The rain gauge / sensor is available for pre-order

Post by Matze » 31 Mar 2014, 18:21

Hi all,

The rain gauge / sensor is available for pre-order on the German amazon homepage.
However there is still no official comment from Netatmo side on this.

Regards
Matt

P.S. I have already ordered it.

I´m curious about the mounting options and the size of the sensor.

The spec sheet tells us something about the accuracy and the measuring mechanism. It looks like it´s connected through WiFi and not by radio:

- measuring mechanism: rain tipping bucket (no need to empty)
- measurement range: 0,2 mm/h to 900 mm/h
- measurement tolerance: 1 mm/h
- connection to Netatmo Station via WiFi

Today it says "ready to ship in 1 or 2 month". Yesterday it was 2-4 weeks.

I believe you are not going to want to be one of the first people to buy one of these.

If you look at how things turned out in the past (humidity and temp sensors failing, and under performing, as well as a non weather proof outdoor module) it took what, nearly a year to fix these issues? I am guessing the second generation will be a better buy, just my opinion. As it stands you can only have 1 outdoor module, and I would like to have 3. I would give it time for people to report in how its accuracy is turning out.

Maybe. Maybe they learned their lesson, who knows^^

BTW, today Amazon Germany says the rain sensor will be available on May 9.

Honestly, I do not believe it.
It takes again that long.

Why is it disappointing, have Netatmo said they would deliver them earlier?
