Wind speed shows 111mph now. Surely the trees would be blown over. Seriously hacked off.

If Netatmo can fix what's causing the sudden error on mine, then it's going to be a good sensor. Just can't work out myself why my sensor is throwing a fit. Good news on yours.

I also bought an anemometer at netamo .

Now I 've read on various forums that the meter is not water -tight ..... Is this correct

Don't think so.... I also got this aneometer three weeks ago...in the meantime it rained sometimes...no problems so far...later this day I'll post some pictures of the aneometer...it's installed directly unter a "Black 300" wind power station :P

It will be interesting to see if you experience any issues when the rain eventually mix in with snow and frost...

So today was another "hurricane out of nowhere" day for me and I think I figured out what causes this phenomenon.

Every time one of these insanely high measurements happens, it has been a day with almost no wind at all and the temperature had risen a lot in a short time.
So I think it's a thermal problem and I don't mean a malfunction, but a misreading caused by something like thermal updraft, maybe.

What do you think?

If thermal updrafts are the culprit, then the mounting location will be critical to avoid possible sources of rising heat (ie. rooftops). But then I also wonder if passing birds or large bugs would could erroneous readings.

I also always suspected pigeon-farts as the cause.......
