My outdoor cameras are on the same power supply line as the WiFi repeater.
In case of power failure of this supply line (f.i. fuse triggered) and return of power on this line the camera and the repeater both start the reboot process at the same time.
The cameras reboot is much faster than the repeater and there will be a WiFi but no appropriately strong WiFi signal at the moment when the camera starts searching for/connecting to a WiFi.
Unfortunately the camara will detect a WiFi from the further distant access point and will connect to it. This is the same local network as the repeater provides.
When the much slower rebooting repeater starts to amplify the weak WiFi and brings the bandwidth needed for the camera, the camera has already connected to the network.
This connection is sufficient to stay connected but does not provide an appropriate bandwidth for surveillance.
So I must go out to the carport and force another reboot of the camera alone by pulling the cameras plug and reconnect it while the repeater remains in operation.
Now the camera will find the strong WiFi from the repeater and will connect to it.
This should not happen that often. However, when traveling and being away from home it would leave the surveillance out of function when it is needed most.
The option to trigger a reboot via the smartphone app would allow to force the camera to search for a better WiFi whenever needed.
