Powering Rely using cable

Post by Amras »

Hi all,

I have a family simple question that I haven’t been able to find the answer in the forums: I would like to power my rely using the cable provided (2 wires for power + black + grey) to avoid installing a socket next to the boiler. However, I do not wish to use the black + grey, but use the already existing wires that go to my thermostat.

In short:
- power to replay using cable (leaving black + grey disconnected)
- boiler switch using the thermostat wires

Is that possible?

Thanks!

Sure, black and grey are not connected to the other cables in any way and never carry any type of current, just leave them.

You can also connect the relay far from the boiler. If you use the thermostat wired to the boiler, the best is to plug the relay in a socket near the center of the home so every device can get a better signal if you have some smart valves.
