Vaillant EcoTEC plus not working after set up
Vaillant EcoTEC plus not working after set up
Hi,
I have tried to set up my Netatmo system but it fails to work. The relay works for the “test” function (e.g it blinks on starting and has a solid light when turned on) but the boiler does not start when the thermostat temp is raised to “max”.
The relay clicks and turns to a solid light but the boiler doesn’t turn on.
I asked Netatmo for advice and they advised both the black and grey wires should be inserted into the “RT” connection.
Any ideas why it’s not working (I’m assuming I’ve done something wrong!)
Thanks

Re: Vaillant EcoTEC plus not working after set up
You put grey and black into the same terminal, you have to put them side by side, one wire into each terminal.
If your old setup only had one wire, that’s because it got the 230V somewhere else.

Re: Vaillant EcoTEC plus not working after set up
I did ask Netatmo for advice on that specific point and that’s what they told me to do!
Before I asked them I did also try one of the wires in the adjacent terminal but nothing happened then either.
Yes, the old set up had a single wire only going onto the RT terminal.
Which terminal should I put the other wire in?
Thanks.

Sorry, just seen the big red arrows on the picture. I’ll try that again and report back!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Vaillant EcoTEC plus not working after set up
Alright, my bad. I now researched the manual and only the right terminal (marked RT) is operational. Meaning you have to connect the grey wire to the RT terminal and the black wire also to L next to the brown wire of the Netatmo Relais and the existing power supply.
But since 3 wires are a bit much for one terminal, I would suggest switching to the 24V terminals since the the Netatmo Relais can handle both high and low voltage.
Connect the black and grey wire to the white terminals on the left side of the circuit board, marked „24V RT“, located between the blue and orange terminals.
One wire into each terminal (screw), polarity doesn‘t matter.
Boiler settings stay the same like before with the old controller.
Btw. if possible disconnect the old controller entirely, since it was high voltage. Or at least put a new terminal or some sort of clamp on the old cable instead of the tape.

Re: Vaillant EcoTEC plus not working after set up
Fantastic!
Thanks very much for your help.
All now working.
I’ve put the old relay wire into the non-operational terminal next to the 230v RT terminal to tidy it away. I assume that’ll be ok if it’s not operational?
Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Vaillant EcoTEC plus not working after set up
Glad I could help
Regarding the old wire, it should be ok.
If that cable is the only one running to the old controller, you could disconnect every wire of that cable. That way everything will be „dead“ for sure.
