Vaillant Thermoblock atmoTEC VCW 245 XE

Post by humpty83 » 11 May 2017, 00:04

Hi there,

I want to hook my new Netatmo Thermostat to my Vaillant Thermoblock atmoTEC VCW 245 XE. According to the documentation and feedback from netatmo support it is compatible and the thermostat/relais should be connected to terminal 3 and 4 rather than 7,8,9 for the old thermostat (VRT-QZA). Can someone point me to where that should be connected?

I got this hooked up. In case someone has the same issues, simply unscrew the small black box where the cables terminate. This is where the Netatmo cables go in.

What black box do you mean? Where did you connect the 3+4 cables of Netatmo? I have also a Vaillant (Thermoblock) and I removed the wires on 3+4+5, like they are visible in your pictures. But my problem is the following:

I did not have a thermostat in the room before. But on ports 3-5 there was a thermostat controlled by atmospheric conditions in cooperation with the VRC-VC on ports 7-9.

I pulled 3-5 out and installed on 3+4 the Netatmo and 220V on L and N. When I switch on the current by the fuse, the Netatmo white light of the relais is blinking 2 or 3 seconds, then it is off for a few seconds and then it blinks in a slower rhythm. If I press the thermostat switch on the relais is makes a 'clack' sound, but nothing happens and the white light continues to blink slowly. The status of my boiler Vaillant VC 166 EU is 'S 30', which means 'Room thermostat blocks heating'.

Can you perhaps tell me what's going wrong? Dis you have a similar problem?
The boiler is also not starting 20 minutes later as mentioned in the manual.

Best regards,
Steffen

Before connection try:

I have removed the cable on pin 5 (and added brown isolation) and cut the cables 3 and 4 in the middle and connected the Netatmo cables to the end of the cables at pin 3+4.

I do not know what's about the other end of the two cables you can see on the left side of the white Netatmo cable...

I also had to unscrew and remove the semitransparent plastic box to see the real ports to use behind/under the ports you can see in the pictures...

Hello Steffen,

you are the only one in whole internet who mentioned this issue. My relay blinks 5 times fast, then does not blink for a while and then blinks slowly and does not stop. Either when wired in boiler (Vaillant AtmoTec Plus), or when pluggd into 230V plug.
How did you solve this? I asked Netatmo support for help, but so far have no answer.

Thank you,

Peter
