Unable to save rain gauge calibration

Post by JohnW »

I have just bought a rain gauge and have carried out the calibration. I got 87 “clacks” for 100 ml, giving a figure of 1.15. The default value is set to 1.26

I have gone in and changed the figure to 1.15 in both the app and on the web interface, both by typing it in and using the + and - buttons and then left using both “Close” and backing out to the previous screen, but whatever I do, when I go back in it has gone back to the default value of 1.26.

I can change any of the other calibrations (temperature and humidity) without a problem, but cannot change the rain gauge

Am I doing something wrong or do I have an issue?

I'm new to the weather system and I assumed that the rain gauge wouldn't require calibration out of the box. Does it?

It should be close out of the box, but if you want it to be more accurate it is better to calibrate it. The standard method is on the Netatmo website and involves slowly pouring 100mL of water through the funnel and counting the “clicks”. Divide 100 by the number of clicks and you get the figure to put in the calibration. However, if you search the Weather Station forums you will find alternative ways of doing it that you may find easier. It is harder than you think to count the clicks without losing concentration! It is also best to do it a few times and average the number.

My problem is, having done it, I can’t get it to save the result

Thanks John. I’ll be interested to see what the reply to saving your calibration is and then I’ll do mine.

I've just calibrated my wind gauge and it saved AOK.

And now it is accepting the changes. Not sure why it wouldn’t before
