Relay button

Post by wofas » 20 Dec 2019, 01:13

So somewhere in the manual I read the white button on the Relay turns boiler ON/OFF. I press it, relay turns on and fires boiler, but thermostat kicks in and overrides relay because the temperature is already reached, and stops relay/boiler.
What is the purpose of this button? I thought it was a Boost button.

It works as an override when the relay is wired to the boiler. It was handy for me when I had a boiler problem and needed to switch on the boiler manually.

Sounds good, that's what I was expecting too. But like I said, thermostat kicks in and overrides relay because the temperature is already reached, and stops relay/boiler.
Does yours do the same thing?

I think its main purpose is to provide a manual ON/OFF toggle switch, in case the thermostat stops functioning (for example if its batteries go flat). Most of the time, it fulfills a useful "TEST" function, to prove that the thermostat is communicating properly ;-)

It's definitely not a 'Boost' button.
