Netatmo Thermostat Has Crashed

Post by davidbr » 29 Dec 2015, 18:49

I have had my thermostat 15 days over 1 year and I noticed it needed the original batteries changing.

I have installed 2 sets of new Duracell batteries but now it is frozen and won't respond to presses and can't be seen by the Wi-Fi bit.

The top display is showing 8c and the bottom one 20c and it won't change even if I take it off the wall mount and press the back.

I have the left the batteries out for 2 days but it is just the same and appears to have crashed. Does anyone know how to hard reset the thermostat?

I emailed Netatmo but was told to insert new batteries and then to send it back to my supplier. I bought it on Amazon UK and can't find guarantee details anywhere and can't find where to contact them about repair. They only give info for return or replacement within 30 days and not after 380 days.

Any help would be very appreciated, I am lost without it. I love my Netatmo till now.

Best Regards David

Oh boy,

This should be the time the first installed thermoststats would need new batteries. How did you know the battereies should ne changed? Were they flat?

I have installe an ITTT to warn me when the thermostat's batteries are low.

I contacted Netatmo and sent them a photo of serial number. They said it was still under warranty.

I sent it back to them in France and it came back 2 weeks later working brilliantly now.

Excellent service well pleased and glad to have my Netatmo back I love it.

To be honest, its scary this did happen and hopefully we won't have to send back the thermostat for servicing upon replacing batteries? (maybe in the mid of winter!)
how did you manage to control the boiler in those 2 weeks? had to mount another thermostat?
Did anyone change batteries without having the thermostat freezed without response? please confirm on this thread

I fully agree with davidbr.
This an unthinkable situation, which should be addressed asap.

NETAMO: what is this all about?

Of course is a thinkable situation. In fact this is the original situation when you buy the boiler. Thermostat producers advertise 30% energy savings compared to a house without thermostat. This is because many people don't have thermostats and are very happy with this.
So, when the thermostat fails, we open the boiler, remove the control wires of the thermostat and put a shunt in place of them (which means always On - it is the shunt we removed when we installed the thermostat). From this point the internal regulating system of the boiler will manage the heating.

cmugur, You still cook on wood, sent letters, use the radio and no tv or internet? Under which stone do you have been living for the last decades?
