Smart valve is still working

Post by Mah » 06 Oct 2017, 10:25

Hi,
i'm a new user of thermostat and smart valve. I have question: the valve has a set point temperature at 19C, indoor temperature is 22C but valve is still open, the radiator keeps warming up.
What is going on?

Hi,
As the Thermostat of the Home does not order to heat, there is no need to close the Valve.

Ok, but i have 2 zones which are independent. The thermostat works on the ground floor where is floor heating and valve works on the first floor where are a radiators.
So the valve should works ON/OFF when reached set point temperature.

Yep,
it would really help what resolved that issue because I could face a similar one.

Thanks,

Well... This is answering somewhere my questions. Can you just forget the assumption that we only need a single thermostat for our full house and make sure that the valves are closed at the same time than the thermostat?

I have 2 use-cases where your assumption is wrong:
- other radiators working autonomously and able to start the heater => overhead in all the rooms where smart valves are. And no, you cannot deploy smart valves in a large house due to the limited radio coverage of the relay and the valves.
- with a heatpump, ON 24/24 and maintaining a volume of water at a certain temperature. The thermostat is only managing a circulator. The hot water tank can then be used for multiple things like heating a swimming pool... This means that even during summertime, the valves will stay open because the thermostat does not need to heat... and the circulator of the swimming pool will make sure to push hot water to the radiators anyway.

Please fix it. It should be easy to fully close the valves when the thermostat stops the heater.

I have the exact same scenario (underfloor heating menaged by thermostat and radiators in the bathrooms with smart valves), and the radiators still heating for hours after the target temperature has been reached.
Are Netatmo planning to fix this asap by operating in the software or I must proceed to send my valves back?
