Set home & away via homekit status

Post by dntom » 27 Jul 2019, 19:22

i just bought a netatmo welcome camera as test to replace my nest indoor cam's.
the welcome cam drives me nuts with alerts, even everything is set correctly.
is it possible to disable/enable alerting via the home/away status of apple homekit? (both nest & homekit are based on location of my iphone)
the "set away when not seen in" option is worthless

when somebody is home the welcome cam should not show video nor it should give alerts)

Hello dntom,

Could you please head to our Web App(my.netatmo.com/) to update your settings?
To do so, please set them to a different value then back to the desired ones to force the update. This should allow the camera to respect your settings. We are currently working on a fix.

As a reminder, you can use your geolocation to let the system know when you leave (tick "this is me" in your profile settings in the Security App)
To be considered as back home, you have to get recognized by the camera for security concerns.

We thank you for your comprehension,

Guillaume,

i allready tried these things several times.
geolocation is turned on but this is not implemented correct.
i'm not going to the camera to show my face. as the cam's are positioned on strategic places, the environment should detect i'm home by the location of my cellphone.
i temporary placed one looking at the entrance door but even then it goes wrong frequently. when you pass the cam at normal speed it doesn't "see" your face.
also those sensors.... make it possible to activate/deactivate while home...
another big issue with ghe geolocation is not having the option to exclude a region.... face recognition of tv drives me nuts....
why does every cam need to create his own set of pictures? each recognized picture should be usable for all the cam's

as far as i see are the welcome cam's a nice try but still not complete implemented.
i'm missing a those basic things i had for several years with my nest cam's.... (i'm replacing them because i don't want google accounts)
those missing functions cost me an extra 200€ for an extra camera...

Hello Tom,

The geolocation is only used to determine when you leave. As the indoor camera has facial recognition and is meant to be placed at the entrance, we made the choice to only use the facial recognition to consider a profile as back home for security concerns.
Regarding the TV, we are aware of the situation. We thought about implementing a system similar to the alert zones from the outdoor camera, however, the indoor one can easily be moved which could lead to major security issues and we willing to avoid these situations. We therefore look into other solutions.

Finally, the profiles are built per camera as each camera are installed in different spots, meaning the environment will differ. To increase the recognition accuracy, each camera builds profile using biometric data and also uses the environment which is why the cameras do not share profiles data.

only facial recognition makes the welcome cam way to expensive gadget.
this means an extra cam needed!

I recently bought a Welcome camera. I find the facial recognition requirement to be unfortunate. I just want the camera to be active only when I and my wife are away from home, using Apple HomeKit's geolocation mechanism, without additional 3rd party location tracking. The camera is designed to do more than I need, more than I want it to do, with the result that it is too complex and inflexible.

I will return the camera to the seller.

@Guillaume_B_Netatmo
camera does still recognize faces in my TV making me crazy with tons of false notification
Any cache to have implemented alert zones you mentioned in August?
Thanks

@Guillaume_B_Netatmo any comment here?
It is really annoying continuing receiving motion alerts due to images at TV or reflexes on windows.
Since alert zones will not be available it is not usable keeping motion alerts on at night.
Your feedback would be very much appreciated
Thanks
