"Someone connected to your Netatmo account" email

Post by kakoskin »

Hi,

I have made Windows application for my personal use which retrieves weatherstation data frequently from Netarmo api.
Today I started to receive email whenever the application accesses the api, it's quite annoying.
I have not changed my app for months, I'm caching the access token and renewing it only if it expires.

Any ideas ?

Yes, same thing here since 16:30 (GMT+1). Every time my PERL script asks for an update with the API I get this email warning.

there are many users with this problem. Some have already received hundreds of e-mails in a short time.

Netatmo, please stop

Edit: has that to do with the stupid defaults for e-mail preferences?

One more report of the same problem. Is there any way to get a message to the Netatmo support staff?

Indeed this security feature can ben easily disabled here : https://my.netatmo.com/settingsstation/mail_preferences
We will soon update the code to disable mail notification if you are the creator of the application that uses your credentials.
Would it be fine for you ?

It is useful to know from where a connection has been done using our credentials.
Why not adding a white list to not raise warnings when the connection comes from one IP of this white list?

Yes it is usefull if someone login to the webgui or the app but not if you get this every time a code ask the API for the data.
