Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
Do they (or do they tell the thermostat to) switch off the boiler if no radiators are calling for heat?

Re: Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
I thought they worked the other way round? - i.e. they're just electrically operated valves, that are commanded to open or close remotely ...
Re: Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
So in theory (and please forgive me because it's not my area of expertise) I could be in a situation where my boiler is till running but all my radiators are turned off?
Re: Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
I'd like to know more details about it all, too.
Do the valves tell the main thermostat that heat's needed? If so, do the valves close off the circuit completely, or do they leave each radiator a bit open to keep water flow going? IIRC boilers hate if the whole circuit's closed. Like mine, who likes to keep the pump turning for a while to exploit condensation and bring the heater element down to a safe temperature. Can you set the minimum flow per valve, since it probably requires some trial and error to figure out when there's water flowing through the actual mechanical valve in the radiator?
I'd certainly like something to get the other rooms better heated, without turning my living room, where the main thermostat's housed, into an oven.
The product page implies that it works with the old Thermostat, so I suppose there's some coordination happening.

Re: Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
Another question is....
is there any chance to have it for Christmas?
(as I need to write down my 'wish list..')
Thanks again

They were supposed to be available end of November but now it's like mid February

Thanks GEORGzer
r.w.scott:
If you look at the combo, it has 2 valves and one relay: that 'means' they talk directly to the relay, and therefore it should be able to switch on and off the boiler

Re: Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
You made an interesting point there.
On their "installation" site, only the combination thermostat/valves ist pictured with a boiler-wired relay.
The valves-relay set is only shown as a stand alone solution without a boiler.
https://www.netatmo.com/product/energy/ ... tallation/
I'm wondering if you can use them for your boiler as well, just without the central operation panel.
Also I can't find any information about if you can use the valves with an not homekit compatible thermostat or not (without the ability of homekit access, of course)

Re: Netatmo Smart Radiator Valves
How I understand that particular page, there has to be a valve in the same room as the thermostat.
I hope the bypass situation is solved and controllable. Like designating a valve to switch into bypass mode when necessary, either automatically based on some runtime parameters and/or letting the user select one manually.
--edit: Hopefully there's also advanced controls like room prioritization, to make sure certain rooms reach temperature fast and reliably.
