FTP Storage

Post by Hozzi »

When I try to store videos on my NAS using FTP I get the following message
230 Login successful.
257 "/"
550 Failed to change directory.
550 Permission denied (restricted operation).

Does anyone know how to resolve this please

230 means the connect works fine and yoir camera and FTP can connect
257 means the camera wants to switch over to another directory
550 means the camera does not have enough rights on you FTP to change settings

The camera needs to create a directory / path like

Apps/netatmo/(name of your camera)/(month-year)

and therefore needs the rights to write on FTP (not only read)
and then dump all the video ts-files in there

OK I have double checked and my FTP has both read/write rights but I still get the same message unfortunately.

At the risk of hijacking the thread could someone show the exact format for each field in the FTP setup page please? I was setting up mine and the camera couldn't reach my NAS. Sorry and thank you.

Here is my ftp path:
www/netatmo/FTP

basically, www.bibi.com/netatmo/FTP

/ alone doesn't work, as it goes to root folder (with www, cgi-bin etc) and can't be wrote. May differ regarding your setup.
php-simpleNetatmoAPI Simple to use php API based on official API.

Thanks kibosh.

I was really trying to find the format of each of the fields so what goes in each of

Hostname: is this the ftp path or the IP address and if IP address which one?

Port: 21

User: the user credentials for the NAS drive?

Password: password for the NAS drive

Save to: the directory on the NAS drive?

Sorry to be so thick

Well I am still struggling with this.
Netatmo have been unable to resolve the issue and I have also spoken to Asus who provide my router.
When I try to save my videos via FTP I still get this message

230 Login successful.
257 "/"
550 Failed to change directory.
550 Permission denied (restricted operation).

Has anyone else had this problem?
