Local Stream URL

Post by ahmed24 »

Is there a way to get the local network stream URL for my Netatmo Presence? I have a few different cameras and I want to add them to a screen where I can view them all the time in the house but I do not want to have a cloud-based stream of my netatmo. I want to just be able to somehow take the direct live stream. I know the IP address of my netatmo as i've added it to my IP reservation list

Have a look at dev.netatmo.com to learn how to retrieve the local stream URL for your cameras.

I'm found the references on the dev.netatmo website but seems a little technical. What i've understood is that it should be on my localip/somekey for example http://192.168.128.232/52ced8bcc8149089968095f995XXXXX question is where do I get this key from? and why does it need to be called via https://0.vpn.netatmo.net/ then my local ip? that seems like its not coming locally, i want my local network device to be able to view the stream.

OK so I found the local stream path for the live feed which seems to be a file called index.m3u8 and they are located in different directories depending on quality so path is

http://local_ip_address/some_key/live/files/high/index.m3u8

Where there is a folder called high that is the quality. There are a total of 4 qualities: poor, low, medium and high. One thing I don't understand is the key that netatmo uses. I am assuming this is some sort of unique key that is generated for the device once it is setup, almost like a random folder which then registers with netatmo. I am assuming this key doesn't change unless I reset using the QR code. Can anyone from netatmo please confirm this?

You have to lookup the key using the netatmo API, it changes whenever netatmo decides to change it. You can not look it up and then use it forever, you need to obtain it programatically and have to to check if the key is still valid and renew it if the session expired.

See dev.netatmo.com as suggested by jofre_netatmo.
