ARCHIVED - New Product Request:: Presence Mini (doorbell camera)
I love my Presence but would like to know if there is any new Netatmo outdoor cameras in the pipeline? I'm after a smaller presence product to act like the Ring Doorbell Pro? I have my presence for back garden but: want a device from front of my house but smaller form factor. Don't need the light etc. But I want to use same Security app. Anyone else need similar? I don't want to get a competitor product....

Re: New Product Request:: Presence Mini (doorbell camera)
It is great news that Netatmo are launching a video door bell. It is even greater news it does not require a subscription, especially since Skybell seem to be defunct. (Skybell were effectively the only brand offering a product without a need for a subscription.)
I did email Netatmo with the following questions/suggestions but they have declined to respond.

- Will you be providing any 'wedges' that allow tilting the smart door bell? See this Ring Pro wedge as an example of what I am referring to - https://en-uk.ring.com/collections/acce ... 4478308445
Does night time i.e. IR viewing operate in B&W or colour? The SkyBell was able to provide a colour view but was fairly unique at this. This is not critical but worth knowing.
What does the view look like? Most other smart door bells have varying amounts of 'fish-eye' distortion. It would be helpful to see how much to expect from your product.
What is the aspect ratio of the video?
Can you define monitoring zones where the door bell looks for motion? Or does it trigger for motion anywhere in view? If motion anywhere in view is the sole criteria then this could lead to far too many alerts. If one is able to define detection zones one can customise it to only monitor a path or door way and not the street.
Does it offer facial recognition like the Nest? (Since you do facial recognition for your Netatmo Welcome camera this would seem possible to do, however reports are that for the Nest which also offers this it causes undesirable latency before you are informed of a 'visitor'.)
What other smart home platforms can it link to in addition to HomeKit? How about Amazon Alexa? Or Samsung Smartthings?
Will you be including or selling as an accessory a suitable bell transformer power supply?
When you say it needs 8-24v power supply can it really work with 8v? Most other smart door bells need a lot more than 8v, the Nest I believe can cope with 12-16v but the Ring Pro realistically needs 24v.
As per a previous query regarding the Netatmo Presence, any plans to add support for SFTP instead of FTP? Apple have dropped support for FTP due to security reasons. It is bizarre to boast of 'The latest encryption (IPsec, TLS)' and then only support FTP which has almost no security.
It appears the doorbell is not illuminated, this is highly desirable and common on other video doorbells as it encourages visitors to press the bell rather than knocking on the door, as this product is wired there is no need to be concerned over the battery drain this feature would otherwise cause.
Some other smart door bells offer 'knock' detection, it may not be possible in this case as your product is not mounted on the door but has this been considered?

Re: New Product Request:: Presence Mini (doorbell camera)
While I'm sure the Doorbell is going to be a great product, I personally would love Netatmo to also sell just an outdoor camera. Like a presence mini if you like, a small compact outdoor camera without the floodlight but with all the great camera features I already enjoy.
Also on the subject of the doorbell, for me a great idea would be to add the features of the welcome and have facial recognition. That way your notifications could be tailored, for example you could receive an alert that lets you know who is at your door without having to open the app.

Any idea when this door bell will be released?
