Hardware versions

Post by mikelondon78 »

I have just received two smart thermostats however on one box the date is 2020 and on the other 2018. Question: is the hardware identical or is the 2020 version an upgrade on the 2018 hardware? Thank you.

There are only two different versions (besides the OpenThem Thermostat), one that is Homekit compatible and supports up to 20 additional Smart Valves and one that is not and only supports 10 I believe. But the Homekit one came out prior 2018.

When you plug in the Relais and the LED flashes white, then you have the newer version. The old model had a blue LED.

Thanks so much. The thing is that, if it is an older version, then I don't want to open the carton! I will return it and request another one.

I think with 2018 you should be fine. The Homekit enabled version came out late 2015 if I‘m not mistaken.

The box actually should have the Apple Homekit logo on there somewhere.
