Hi, I need help for the attaching of the wires for the smart thermostat.
Can you help me?
I want to attach it to the room-Thermostate and not the boiler. The heating system is (district heating = Fernwärme) with a Samson trovis system. I want to regulate the temperature individually in 3 room with three separate Netatmo thermostats.
Following picture is the bedroom. It is a combined switch with two light switches above
The old room thermostat (to be changed) is this one: https://www.amazon.de/Merten-Zentralpl- ... B0014DMHP8
Thanks in advance

Re: Attaching the right wires Netatmo Thermostat
You have to isolate the Blue N wire, since you won‘t need it anymore.
The other two (black and brown) have to be connected to the terminals of the Netatmo Thermostat, polarity is not important.
Please check your fuses and switch off the power of your local heating-controller. Double-check if the old thermostats are really powerless.

Re: Attaching the right wires Netatmo Thermostat
Correction: since there are 2 blue wires (didn‘t spot that at first), they should be connected using a terminal, not isolated.
They are not needed for the new Netatmo Thermostat, but the connection between the wires has to be maintained.

Re: Attaching the right wires Netatmo Thermostat
Hi
A quick follow-on question. Why does it not matter which socket the Live wire is connected to (polarity) ? Is the Thermostat smart enough to detect which wire is live and use the other as switch live ? (does this not impact the boiler ?)
Thanks !
Jim

Re: Attaching the right wires Netatmo Thermostat
The opposite actually, the Thermostat/Relais is dumb enough that it doesn‘t matterJimhunt100 wrote: ↑18 Oct 2023, 16:45 Is the Thermostat smart enough to detect which wire is live and use the other as switch live ?
The two terminals of the Thermostat mounting-plate and the black and grey wires of the Relais all do the same thing. When heating is requested, the contact between them gets closed, allowing current (be that high or low voltage) to run from one wire to the other. And which direction it travels just doesn’t matter.
That‘s also why those are called „dry contact thermostats“.
